LATE 19th CENTURY, 1897
Rostov millionaire B. I. RISS built a plant for the production of tinplate, glossy iron and tsebar, which was later converted into JSC "Zhest".
the Company has been nationalized. in 1923 it produced first industrial zinc oxide in the country. Subsequently, the company began to produce paints and medicines.
Rostov chemical production Association named October revolution was established. The Association produced more than 130 types of chemical products: zinc oxide, various enamels and paints, lacquers, putties, medical products, ultramarine, magnesia, reflective materials, thermoplastics, etc.
As a result of several General reconstructions of zinc oxide production, the capacity of the current production on 01.01.1985 achived 90,000 tons of zinc oxide per year. In fact, the maximum output of zinc oxide reached 86,000 tons per year. The products were supplied to various cities of the Soviet Union and to twenty countries of the world.
Empils CJSC was established. in 1998 EMPILS CJSC joined «Novoye sodruzhestvo» Industrial Union together with the zinc oxide production. The holding includes enterprises that produce agricultural machinery - Rostselmash (Russia) and BuhlerIndustries Inc. (Canada).
